SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr 2, 2026--

Algolia, the AI Search and Retrieval platform trusted by more than 18,000 businesses and millions of developers worldwide, today announced the appointment of Stephen Lynch as Chief Executive Officer. Lynch succeeds Bernadette Nixon, who transitioned from CEO at the end of December and continues to serve on Algolia’s Board of Directors.

Lynch brings two decades of experience building and scaling enterprise platforms, with deep expertise at the intersection of AI search, machine learning, and large-scale system design. He joins Algolia at a defining moment for the industry, as search evolves from a feature into the foundational intelligence layer powering generative AI, agentic workflows, and real-time decision-making systems.

Bernadette Nixon, Board Member at Algolia, said: “Stephen is a seasoned product leader and senior executive with a strong track record of translating complex AI capabilities into scalable platforms that developers and enterprises trust. As AI systems become more context-aware, multi-modal, and agent-driven, his experience aligning product, engineering, and commercial execution positions Algolia to lead in intelligent retrieval and next-generation discovery.”

Most recently, Lynch served as General Manager & EVP of Enterprise at AlphaSense, where he helped scale the company through a period of extraordinary growth. He evolved the company from an early-stage platform into a global category leader serving more than 6,000 organizations, including 88% of the S&P 100. Over his nearly eight-year tenure, he played a central role in expanding the company’s product, engineering and commercial capabilities, contributing to its evolution into a category-defining AI platform used by the world’s most sophisticated institutions.

Lynch added: “Algolia has built one of the most trusted, high-performing search and retrieval platforms in the world. We’re entering a new era of intelligent, real-time, and increasingly agent-driven applications, where retrieval becomes foundational. I’m delighted to be joining at this moment of accelerating growth and opportunity, and excited to help define what comes next.”

His appointment signals Algolia’s next chapter, accelerating its position as the intelligence and memory layer for AI-native applications, where retrieval, relevance, and real-time data orchestration become critical infrastructure for how modern software is built and experienced.
