Austin's Hines-Ike answers goal by Philadelphia teen Sullivan in 1-1 draw with Union

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Teenager Cavan Sullivan scored early in the first half for Philadelphia, but Austin FC defender Brendan Hines-Ike answered three minutes later for a 1-1 draw with the Union on Saturday night.

Sullivan found the net with a header in the 18th minute to give Philadelphia (5-10-6) the lead. Both of the 16-year-old's goals have come this season. He played 224 minutes over 14 appearances in the 2024-25 seasons without a goal contribution.

Nathan Harriel and Milan Iloski had assists.

Hines-Ike took a corner kick from Joseph Rosales in the 21st minute and used his head to score his second goal for the equalizer. Hines-Ike has five goals in 120 career appearances.

Rookie Damian Las finished with two saves for Austin (5-10-6) in his second start.

Andre Blake saved four shots in his 285th start for Philadelphia (5-10-6), which has gone 4-0-2 in its last six matches.

Austin is 2-6-1 in its last nine matches with both wins coming against the Seattle Sounders.
