WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 4, 2025--

$1.2 million of James R. Hoffa Memorial Fund scholarships have been awarded this year to children of Teamsters starting their college and trade school careers this fall. Over 300 new recipients join the ranks of the thousands of children who have benefited from Hoffa scholarships since the Fund’s beginning in 2000.

“The James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund continues to have a positive impact on Teamster children across the U.S. and Canada,” said James P. Hoffa, Teamsters General President Emeritus. “This year alone, the Fund awarded $1.2 million in scholarships. The Fund is making a difference in the lives of Teamster members and their families. We are very proud to give students a leg up with the costs of higher education.”

A recent winner, Alexandra, wrote: “Through applying for and accepting the James R. Hoffa Memorial Academic Scholarship award, I’ve not only received the opportunity to attend college, but the moment to reflect on my family’s legacy and how it has shaped me as an individual. Thank you all for making a big dream a reality for my family and me.”

A $10,000 academic scholarship winner, Chase, wrote: “It has been an absolute honor growing up in a Teamster family and I cannot express how grateful I am for the support this scholarship provides to me and my family as I head off to study physics.”

“On behalf of our board of directors, we are grateful for the generous donations we receive from local unions and friends that are committed to supporting Teamster families,” said Hoffa.
