TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Hundreds of thousands gathered across Iran and in Tehran, the country's capital, to mark the 47th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, attending the annual state-organized rallies that draw officials, clerics and government supporters. The event is held each year to mark the overthrow of the Iranian shah and the establishment of the Islamic Republic.
