PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct 7, 2025--
Tidepool, a recognized innovator and nonprofit leader in the diabetes space, is honored to join the Milken Institute’s Women’s Health Network as an inaugural member.
The Women’s Health Network, chaired by Dr. Jill Biden and guided by a Steering Committee of global leaders, brings together 75 founding organizations committed to advancing research, innovation, and equity in women’s health. The Network serves as a collaborative platform to elevate existing efforts and catalyze new partnerships across diverse sectors of the women’s health ecosystem.
“At Tidepool, we know that women living with diabetes experience unique challenges across the lifespan—from puberty through menopause—and their voices are too often missing from the innovation pipeline,” said Kelly Watson, VP of Product and User Experience. “We’re proud to stand alongside the Milken Institute and fellow members of the Women’s Health Network to ensure that diabetes health research, technology, and policy reflect the lived realities of women with chronic conditions. By working together, we can accelerate the innovations and collaborations that women’s health has long deserved.”
“As a clinician and researcher, I know how critical it is to generate evidence that reflects the lived experience of women and girls living with diabetes to create a precision medicine model of care that recognizes diversity in biology, in life stage, and lived experience,” said Dr. Eda Cengiz, professor of pediatrics, director of pediatric diabetes program at the University of California San Francisco, and Tidepool Medical Advisor. “Tidepool’s leadership in building datasets that finally capture these nuances - and its commitment to putting that knowledge into the hands of people living with diabetes, providers, and innovators - is a critical step toward closing long-standing gaps in women’s health research.”
Tidepool’s invitation to join the Network reflects its pioneering leadership in women’s health and diabetes. Through the Tidepool Period Project, Tidepool convenes a renowned advisory council, partners with academic institutions, and has assembled one of the largest datasets linking menstrual cycles and diabetes. The initiative has also worked to reduce stigma and normalize conversations around reproductive health across the clinical and patient communities.
Building on this foundation, Tidepool will contribute its expertise in digital health, ethical and inclusive data collection, and coalition-building between researchers, clinicians, and industry. Tidepool aims to accelerate innovation, setting a new precedent for how digital health can drive equity and improve outcomes for the unmet needs of people living with diabetes.
