New York Mets' Francisco Lindor hits 300th home run in season finale

WASHINGTON (AP) — Francisco Lindor hit his 300th home run in the second inning of the New York Mets' season finale against the Washington Nationals on Sunday.

Lindor drove left-hander DJ Herz’s 92.9 mph fastball 409 feet into the left-field seats for his 21st homer of the year and his first since hitting two on Sept. 12. The five-time All-Star, who spent his first six seasons with Cleveland, has 162 home runs since the Mets acquired him before the 2021 season.

Lindor is the 172nd player to hit 300 home runs and the seventh to reach the milestone this season after Baltimore's Pete Alonso, Los Angeles Dodgers teammates Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani, Atlanta's Matt Olson, Pittsburgh's Marcell Ozuna and Toronto's George Springer.
