Hillsong Worship’s Jad Gillies Talks New Music, Worship & a New Season

Hillsong Worship’s Jad Gillies sits down with GodTube Music’s Brandon Woolum to talk about the group’s upcoming live worship album, arriving in February 2027, and the three new songs giving listeners an early preview on Oct. 23: “Praise the Lord, Hallelujah, Amen,” “As You Are” and “Flood.”

Gillies shares how the new project came together following Hillsong Worship’s return to recording, why the congregation serves as the group’s “head of A&R,” and how new songs are tested and shaped in church before being released to the world.

He also opens up about honoring Hillsong Worship’s four-decade legacy while stepping boldly into a new season, the importance of pairing joy and energy with biblical truth, and what makes worship powerful whether it happens in a massive arena or a small church with just a piano and acoustic guitar.

Gillies also offers encouragement for anyone who feels disconnected from worship or from God, explaining why worship is ultimately about drawing near, magnifying God and remembering who He is.
